This Privacy Policy explains how ChargEV (“ChargEV”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your information when you use the ChargEVmobile app and website, which help EV drivers find charging stations and let owners, operators and societies list and manage charging points.

1. Eligibility (18+)

ChargEV is intended only for users aged 18 years or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. By creating an account you confirm you are 18+.

2. Information we collect

  • Account details — your name, and the email address or mobile number you sign up with, your chosen role (driver, owner, operator, society), and a hashed password.
  • Supply-side KYC — if you register as an owner/operator/society, your business or society name and a registration/GST/ID number, used for verification.
  • Location — your device location (with your permission) to show charging stations near you and distances. Used while you use the app; not continuously tracked in the background.
  • Voice input — if you use voice search, your speech is processed by your device/browser to produce the search text. We do not store voice recordings.
  • Usage & diagnostics — basic technical data (e.g. requests, errors) needed to operate and secure the service.

We do not collect your date of birth, and we do not sell your personal data.

3. How we use your information

  • To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
  • To show nearby stations, live slot availability, and let you contribute or manage stations.
  • To verify supply-side accounts (KYC) and moderate contributions.
  • To respond to support and account-deletion requests.

4. Third-party services

ChargEV shows charging and map data from open/free providers. When you use the app, requests may be made to:

  • Open Charge Map — charging station data.
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — map tiles, search and geocoding.

We do not use advertising networks and do not share your personal data with advertisers. Station information comes from third-party/community sources and may be incomplete or inaccurate.

5. Data retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. When your account is deleted, we remove your account and associated personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes.

6. Your rights & choices

You can access and update your profile in the app. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time:

7. Security

Passwords are stored hashed, and the app communicates with our servers over secure connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

8. Children

The service is not directed to and may not be used by anyone under 18.

9. India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023

If you are in India, we process your personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP). You may contact our grievance officer for data concerns at chargev.info@gmail.com (REPLACE: grievance officer name & address).
